The Spring Clean Jacket

wpid-wp-1463855292317.jpgIt’s spring cleaning season! The most exciting season of all for second-hand shoppers.

I’m not sure whether it’s the extended daylight, warmer weather or the general feeling of renewal, but there’s something about spring that makes people crave a clear out. It’s almost ritualised in our culture; as soon as blossom begins to bloom, we’re hoovering beneath the bed, washing the curtains and shedding our winter coats (…literally).

As a consequence, while the high street’s filled with slinky slip dresses, charity shops are brimming with warmer clothing — clothing that’s actually appropriate for changeable spring weather. So if you’re not quite ready for strappy camisoles and crochet bralets, hit your local charity shops.wpid-wp-1463855282046.jpgwpid-wp-1463855295997.jpgwpid-wp-1463855289007.jpgThis second-hand suede jacket is the perfect example. I got it for £8 in a Cancer Research store and it’s been my best friend through this bout of unpredictable weather (admittedly suede and spring showers don’t mix… but we get by). It’ll be a bittersweet moment when the weather heats up for good…

Thank you, mystery spring cleaner, for donating this beauty!
