Feeling Festive in Tartan

dsc04192I’m feeling wonderfully festive! I’ve almost finished my Christmas shopping, already celebrated Christmas 0.1 with some friends and decorated the flat (I confess: our decorations may have been up for a good few weeks now…) — all before the first week of December is through.

Although the roasts, decorations and present buying has been going on for a while, I always save one thing for December 1st: Christmas clothes. The former can go on for months behind closed doors, but the latter leaves the house with you — and nothing dampens the holiday spirit more than people rolling their eyes at your Christmas pudding bobble hat. Even if it is early November…

2015’s festive dressing was kicked off with this tartan number at the weekend.

dsc04327dsc04241I was never a big fan of tartan, always feeling like a Clueless extra when I gave it a whirl — but tartan during the festive period is another story. It’s a subtle nod to Christmas, in case Christmas jumpers aren’t your thing.

I got this second-hand tartan skirt from Beyond Retro last year and it fits like a dream. As you know, I’m normally more of a charity shop shopper, but every now and then I venture into vintage shops like Beyond Retro for guaranteed quality. I often find that the quality of vintage clothing is miles better than the mass produced items we have on the high street today.
